SWEC rehearses on Tuesday evenings at Loughton Methodist Church, 260 High Rd, Loughton IG10 1RB between 7.45-9.45pm.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’re always on the lookout for new members, particularly in the male sections. If you enjoy singing, why not join one of rehearsals <\/strong>and try us out?  You are welcome to join us at any time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can just turn up or contact Leonie Whittingham, our membership secretary, to let her know you are coming and ask any questions on 07958 763213 or email: leonieamartin61@gmail.com.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We practise in a friendly and supportive atmosphere, aim to develop individual musicianship, and present concerts to high standards.

If you would like to join SWEC, there is no audition, but you must be able to sing. We ask that you commit to attending rehearsals and participating in performances.

What is a rehearsal like? Below, is a snapshot of what you can expect:

On arrival at Loughton Methodist Church, it\u2019s time to sign the register, say hello, and exchange a friendly word with fellow members. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

We rehearse in the worship area of the Church and sit in sections according to voice part- soprano, tenor, bass, alto (from left to right).<\/p>\n<\/div>

\n

To begin, we all stand and Andrew, our musical director, takes us through a vocal warm-up.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

After the warm-up, the rehearsal starts properly as we learn and sing sections of the music we are performing that term. We always work towards an end-of-term concert.<\/p>\n<\/div>

An hour into the rehearsal we have a 15-minute break, which starts with notices, given by a member of the choir’s committee. We have a cake club and at least two types of delicious cake are usually available for a small donation.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

We also have a book stall for members to browse during the break. Both activities help raise funds for the choir.<\/p>\n<\/div>

After the break, we come back together and continue to rehearse until 9.45pm when it’s time to go home. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
